Lee Child Books in Order | Jack Reacher

Updated on August 1, 2013

A Wanted Man - Jack Reacher Novel

I recently stumbled across an author that was new to me -- Lee Child. I found out he has a mystery series of novels involving a character named Jack Reacher. So, now I am reading Lee Child books in order.

The first book I found was from mid-way in the series and titled "Without Fail". I loved it! So, as always, I started back at the beginning of the series with book one and have been reading them voraciously since. I am so looking forward to reading the latest book -- A Wanted Man but have been holding off so I read it within the context of the series.

I have read great reviews and am pretty darned sure I will love it. I have 2 more books to finish before I will come to the newest book. I think I will be reading a lot in any free time I have in the near future...

Lee Child had No Idea...

the impact Jack Reacher Would Have with Readers

Lee Child's Jack Reacher novels are available in 41 languages in 96 countries and have sold worldwide, over 70 million copies. Did Mr. Child ever think it was possible after he was let go in a corporate restructuring and sat down with pen and paper to write his first book? Probably not.

Mr. Child has 17 books in the Reacher series with the newest edition due out this September. His fans and fans of the series call themselves "Reacher's Creatures". Talk about a loyal following (of which I am one!)

Mr,. Child has also published a book called "Reacher's Rules" which fans are eating up. It's 160 pages of the advice, mottos and sayings compiled from the 17 novels in the series. It's funny, serious and full of everyday wisdom. I can't wait to read it.

Every book is devoured by the public and has catapulted Child to the honor of being a New York Times Best Selling author. I'm sure in September, it'll happen again. Reacher's/Child's fans are nothing if not loyal.

One of the best articles I have ever read about Lee Child and Jack Reacher was written by Kevin Nance, Freelance Writer. The article was published in the Washington Post in December of 2012. Read it! If you're a fan of Child/Reacher, you'll love it!

Published September, 2011, this is the newest Jack Reacher novel by Lee Child. This is the one I can't wait to get to. It will be bittersweet since reaching it means I will have read my way through the series and have to wait for Mr. Child to write another... Oh well, I am still excited! Update: I read it and loved it. Now I am waiting, impatiently for September and the newest book!

Killing Floor - #1 in Lee Child books in Order - Jack Reacher

Killing Floor (Jack Reacher)
Killing Floor (Jack Reacher)
Jack asks the Greyhound bus driver to let him off at an unscheduled stop near a town his brother once mentioned to him. The immaculate yards and town streets are almost too good to be true. And, Jack soon finds out things are not as they seem in this off the beaten path, Georgia town. He's arrested for murder the next morning and the tale plays out from there. An excellent first novel that won the Anthony Award and Barry Award and earned a dedicated following for Jack Reacher and Lee Child.

Jack Reacher Novels

I ordered all three of these books from Amazon after I had read Killing Floor. I have not been disappointed in the character of Jack Reacher or in the writing style of Lee Child.

The books grab you from the start and don't let go until you close it. I've got my mom reading them now. She is finishing them pretty fast and getting caught up in the jack Reacher fan club!

Without Fail - #6 in Lee Child books in Order - Jack Reacher

Without Fail (Jack Reacher)
Without Fail (Jack Reacher)
"I want to hire you to assassinate the Vice President" she said. That definitely got his attention. That and the fact that she found him at all. Shows some tenacity. "She" was his late brothers ex-girlfriend. The situation was a mystery. Jack stayed to help. Excellent book! I think it's my favorite!

Persuader - #7 in Lee Child Books in Order - Jack Reacher

Persuader (Jack Reacher)
Persuader (Jack Reacher)
Jack is working, unofficially, with the DEA to bring down a known criminal. He has to infiltrate the organization and become a trusted soldier in the family very quickly. Yes, he's helping the DEA but his real agenda is to go farther up the ladder. He saw a ghost or what should've been a ghost. Now Jack will do whatever it takes to make the guy a ghost for sure this time.

Did You Know?

Why do Readers Love Jack Reacher - Here's a few Reasons...

  1. Jack Reacher eats pretty much anything he wants (or can find at times) and never gains an ounce. He's 6' 5" and 250 pounds of lethal human being. Wouldn't you love to eat anything you want and not have to worry about gaining weight?
  2. He also does not workout in a traditional sense in order to keep his physique. He does walk an awful lot so I guess that and fighting the bad guys is enough for his metabolism.
  3. Jack travels light -- the clothes on his back and the folding toothbrush in his pocket are about the only personal luggage he has. Wouldn't that be so much simpler to keep up with?
  4. He's free of all the things most people go after with gusto -- mortgage, car, furnishings, wardrobes, and all that everyday stuff we are dream of attaining one day. It means nothing to him except "stuff" that would weigh him down.
  5. He always gets the bad guy(s) in the end. Don't mess with him and he won't mess with you. If you do, you're going down!

The Enemy - #8 in Lee Child Books in Order - Jack Reacher

The Enemy (Jack Reacher)
The Enemy (Jack Reacher)
Stepping back in time with this novel, Child gives us a look into Reacher's life when he was a Major in the 110th MP's. We meet his brother and mother while Reacher is investigating the mysterious death of a 2 star General. Strange orders to a lot of MP commanders around the country, hard to find hookers, a young ambitious MP wanting desperately to be a part of the 110th Special Investigation Unit and two continents of activity combine to make this thriller a ride of a lifetime!

Book #'s 9 through 12 in the Jack Reacher Series

Lee Child Books in Order

I have read and loved all of these books in the series. Each one has such a complete story but is different from the rest. Lee Child is truly a gifted writer.

My problem? Now that I have finished the series, I will have to wait until later this year for the newest book to be released! I am not a very patient person so this will not be a fun wait!

Write faster Lee!!!
